As the days pass by, so is the abundance of love slipping away
Like a pile of sand blowing in the wind
Flowing freely into the ocean waves
Love use to consume all of the atmosphere in a bright blooming way
Like a field of fresh lilies
I use to run through the freedom of love
Throughout the seasons of my youth with careless frills
It was like magic dust that all my loved ones had
They would sprinkle it all over me whenever I was sad
I could feel it from Monday through Friday
Even on the weekends Love was being displayed on the television
Love was alive in our homes, schools, churches, and most importantly in our hearts
It woke us up every morning with a fresh start
Provided us with energy to press on and believe the unthinkable
Building us up as individuals, couples, and uplifting our communities
We were becoming unstoppable in the midst of hate and evil
Because of love we were able to allow bygones to be bygones
Because of love we can procreate
But if we do not hold on to love
The future generation will only dwell in a land full of hate
People are so consumed in themselves, self-love is what they claim
When in reality its self-idolatry that they believe
I watch the TV today and sometimes I think it’s too late
From the increase in crime and violence
The influx of catastrophic disasters with many people dying in innocence
How can this madness end?
I want the abundance of love back again
Give our children something to look forward to when
they think of their destiny
the doom of our mistakes should not be their fate
Small gestures will go a long way
Just say hi to people when you see them everyday
Remember the time when it was not foreign to wish a stranger well
While passing them by on the street, at work, or on the stairwell
Most importantly let us pray and fall down on our knees
That our Nation will believe in love (GOD)
So that we can be back to where we need to be.
