Show me a person who has everything, and I'll see a person who is lacking something. There is no such thing as a perfect life or individual. Unless your speaking of the life of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The biggest celebrities and stars have shortcomings like the rest of us. How many times have we watched history repeat itself. Where people idolize celebrities because they have reached the pinnacle of their profession; only to see some of these celebrities suffer internally and their lives end tragically. They face a lot of pressure hoping to hold up to their fans standards and the image they created. Not wanting to disappoint anyone, including themselves. People who are in the public eye have their personal lives and many allegations exposed to a vast amount of people. They suffer from the ridicule of their peers and the general public. All the while they experience the same kind of emotions, needs and desires that we all share.
Even "flawless" diamonds have flaws their brilliance shine bright in the light, but under a microscope you can see its imperfections. Then they are categorized into the four C's. The shame is that we also put our human stars in the same vote. From the media, gossip columns, clinicians, and the general public- we put labels on them: bankrupt, crazy, divorced, alcoholic, crack head, cheater, pedophile, abuser, drug addict, this list goes on and on. Once labeled, the stars have it fixated on them like its apart of their everyday attire. Publicists try to find ways to revamp their image, but in the back of the public eye they have become stigmatized. Some people resort to using various methods of vices to move forward. Only to face a traumatic halt once their drug of choice has taken precedent over their lives. It's been devastating to watch countless celebrities and people suffer from a lack of compassion. Idolization is the most dehumanizing thing to do to a person: To idolize a person for their work and product and not love them at all. As I sit hear writing the end of this, I hear the song "Scream" By Michael Jackson / Janet Jackson playing on Comcast- The words that are piercing through is hearing Michael repeat “Stop pressuring me, stop pressuring, make me want to scream”
The everyday skeptics are the worst. “I hate her/him”, as if they actually know the person. How horrible is that to not take into account your own actions in life, but quick to point the finger and judge someone else. We can all learn from Jesus “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” John 8:7. We need to stop building people up higher than the Tower of Babel, for them to fall violently off of.
