Staying on course in life is not always easy. When working towards reaching a goal, it is usually accompanied with struggle. Distractions are always present. The use of technology has climbed to the top of the charts in this generation as a priority in our daily lives. People and situations may break your stride if you give all of your attention over to them. All achievements come with a sacrifice. Everyday and every moment of your life, you are guided by the choices you make. What determines the outcome is our willingness to finish what we started.
I have always had a heart for dancing. I’m intrigued with mostly anything that is associated with any form of it. I use to enjoy watching figure skating, ballroom dancing, and ballet. In elementary school I took ballet lessons. I was determined to learn how to do multiple turns. When trying to learn how to turn on my own; I could only complete a triple turn. I never ended up where I started. Moving out of place and becoming dizzy at times. I was out of balance. Later on in life, I learned the proper technique is in spotting. The trick is to find a place of focus in front of you and keep your eyes on it, while you spin around. As you begin your turn, you immediately snap your neck around and lock your eyes back on the target. After practicing the technique, I became skillful at doing multiple turns and pirouettes with ease.
When we allow the things around us to take us off course, we miss the mark and become unbalanced. The more time we spend away from our focus, increases the time it will take for us to reach our goal. We may also be wasting our precious time on things that are not aligned with our purpose. The more time you spend on the ground when you fall, the less time you will have to stand on solid ground. I’m speaking from experience. I remember coming to my wits end of having a roller coaster life. I allowed my emotions to dictate my decisions and attitude. Once I allowed God to intercede in that area of my life, I began to receive deliverance from it.
Now as a child of God, on this Christian journey there are a lot of adversities I face daily. There is an array of distractions that can make me lose focus and become dizzy. My life is balanced when I keep my eyes on Jesus Christ. He is the head and we are the body. You cannot become fixated on God and yourself at the same time. Just think about it: If you naturally keep your eyes on yourself, you can’t see what is ahead of you. You are capable of running into and over people; into walls or dead ends. It’s funny, but it’s the truth! When your focus is on yourself, you won’t be able to assist someone else. Almost locked into place, it’s impossible to reach your goal if your eyes are locked in the spot at which you stand.
When Jesus is our target, we are walking by Faith. We are not just talking about it. We are actively putting our trust in him for everything. This walk is not easy. Once we overcome one thing, they’ll be something ahead we’ll have to overcome. It’s good to know God has a plan for us to succeed no matter what. It is in Him that we are able to have victory over these areas of our lives, and our purpose will be fulfilled. You can walk by Faith and not by sight if Jesus Christ is your target. Keep your eyes on him and he will keep you from falling. Even if you fall, He’ll lift you back up. His strength and power is real.
