I can't lose another brother to anger, the rage within that when let loose gives birth to violence,
and death to life is how it ends.
I can't lose another brother to fall victim to aimless sin, rather behind bars or six feet in. He is a prisoner that will not win if he succumbs to anger.
I can't lose another brother, who for some reason is always the target of police brutalization. He doesn't deserve the abuse, why is he the one who heaps the burden of overflowing persecution.
I can't lose another brother to gang affiliation, he wears the color red, but he's not covered by the blood of the lamb.
I can't lose another brother to depression, suicide and self destruction. I can't lose another brother to fear, worry, self-doubt that he will never see his dreams become a reality.
I can't lose another brother to domestic violence, beaten down by the bitter words of his woman. Putting his hands on her, as if this is the solution to his problem.
When I say brother I'm not speaking of a male from a specific ethnic group, culture, or having a particular skin color. I'm speaking about every man. No matter what side your own the victim or the abuser, you can't win if you give into anger.
I don't want to lose another brother. So I ask God what can I do as their sister.
He told me to keep praying for them! When they pass you by, remember what they are facing, so be careful of what you say and what you do. Be careful of how you treat them as to not add to the weight of their load, instead lift them up. Say encouraging words. When needed speak the truth and be bold. Be the beam in their eye when they look up, so they know that their is a sister they don't want to lose either!
God Bless you with love & peace!
